Enrollment Projection Terminology

Annual new student:

Students that apply, are accepted and enroll in the summer, fall or spring of each academic year. Undergraduate students that graduate and continue their studies as a graduate student are included.
Classification:
Students are classified on the basis of semester hours earned as follows: Freshman- Zero to 29 semester hours; Sophomore- 30 to 59 semester hours; Junior- 60 to 89 semester hours and all lower division requirements; Senior- 90 semester hours; Graduate- Any student admitted to a graduate program; Unclassified- Any student not yet admitted to a degree program.
Cohort:
The group of entering students in a designated term or academic year.
Correction Factors:
Multiplicative factors applied to last year's prediction in order to adjust it to a perfect fit to last year actuals. These factors are then applied as a correction to this year's prediction.

Estimated FTE:
The forecasted number of FTE based on the headcount forecast.
FTE:
Full Time Equivalent is calculated as 1:40 for undergraduate and 1:32 for graduate annual student credit hours.
FTIC:
First Time In College
Fundable:
Students for whom state funding is provided. Non-fundable students include primarily UCF and state employees as well as a few senior citizens. There are approximately 500 non-fundable students enrolled each year.
Grad I fraction:
The percentage of fundable student credit hours generated by the graduate level course section and student classification level is equal to advanced graduate defined as a graduate student who has been formally admitted to a recognized doctoral or post-master's degree program and who has accumulated 36 semester credit hours toward his/her degree program, or has a master's degree.
Headcount:
The actual number of "fundable" individual students enrolled at a specified time regardless of whether the students are attending full-time or part-time.
Level:
Lower, Upper, Graduate. Lower Level SCH: Hours generated by courses numbered 2999 and below. Upper Level SCH: Hours generated by courses numbered 3000-4999. Graduate Level SCH: Hours generated by courses numbered 5000 and above.
New student by term:

Planned FTE:
The number of FTE that UCF has received growth funding for by the state.
Retention:
Number of students that entered UCF as a FTIC, CC Transfer, or Other transfer student and is still attending in the next 10 years.
SDCF:
Student Data Course File
Student credit hours (SCH):
Those student credit hours for which the University receives funding by the state.
Term:
Summer, Fall, Spring semesters.
Transition fractions:
Ratio of new students in a term that enter as a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.
Type:
Student entrant type at time of admission may be FTIC, CC transfer, other transfer, AAAS transfer or graduate student.
